The Doctor's Name by Sculcuvant The Doctor's Name by Sculcuvant
We saw the Doctor's Name written on his cot in the most recent episode, "A Good Man Goes to War" but only for a moment, and blurry. I took the liberty of recreating it, in large, easy to use size, black and white.

Feel free to re-use it however you like.

you see, this is what I don't understand: If people can get resources like this, and people have (somehow) learned Gallifrayen, why don't people just translate this? Maybe we're just scared it's not as cool as we think it is.

The horrid thing is, we've got a pile of fan-based versions of Gallifreyan, which i assume aren't nearly as clever as the "Official" Gallifreyan that exists with the BBC. And considering how the language functions... maybe there isn't a true way of reading it without reading all the subtleties within it?

The TARDIS wont translate it because it's in Gallifreyan, their native tounge.

It's in Old High Gallifreyan. It's completely untranslateable. It cannot be translated using Modern Gallifreyan.

Oi! What if his name really WAS John Smith? xD

Um, I'd like to see you try...

The only Gallifreyan instructions there are (and there are about ten currently) are completely fan-made. They have absolutely no bearing on the Gallifreyan in the show.

That's the Loren Sherman Gallifreyan. But it follows the same grammar as English, it's just transliterated...

I just made a Tumblr post about all the different kinds, which you may find interesting/useful: [link]

Unless you're saying you need help with grammar because English isn't your best language, it sounds to me like you're mixing Sherman and Doctor's Cot together. You shouldn't use Doctor's Cot layout for Sherman Gallifreyan. I don't know the site you linked to earlier, but the original source of Sherman Gallifreyan shows how to lay it out and stuff. That's the PDF I linked to in that post; it should tell you everything you need to know. :)
